JOB SUMMARY:
The Clinical Director is responsible for the overall direction of hospice clinical services for our New Harmony, IN & Carmi, IL locations. The Clinical Director establishes, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives for hospice services that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and philosophy.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
Promotes and practices the Charles Ford Hospice in Harmony philosophy and mission.· Coordinates and supervises all direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical organization personnel.
Provides guidance and counseling to direct and indirect patient care organization personnel.
Provides help in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient and family/caregiver care to all clinical personnel as indicated.
Assists the Administrator in the preparation and administration of organization’s budget.
Interprets operational indicators to detect census changes and increases or decreases in volume that could impact staffing levels, revenues, or expenses.
Evaluates performance of all clinical staff.
Hires, evaluates, and terminates organization personnel.
Conducts routine performance appraisals of direct report Clinicians.
Oversees the maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports, and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of organization activities.
Assures the proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Responsible for the maintenance of adequate and appropriated inventory supplies and equipment for the provision of patient care.
Develops, implements, and evaluates the orientation program for new organization personnel.
Responsible for the orientation of new organization personnel, directly or delegated. Plans and implements in-service and continuing education programs to meet education and training needs of organization personnel.
Responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective, on-going, hospice-wide, data driven Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program that reflects the complexity of the organization and services.
Assures for the quality and safe delivery of hospice services provided throughout the organization.
Promotes customer service and the building of relationships with the referral sources.· Makes customer service visits to foster relationships with facilities.
Assists in the development of organization goals. Develops, recommends, and administers organization policies and procedures.
Secures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding licensure, certification and ongoing operations of organization.
Stays informed about changes in the field of nursing and hospice care; shares information with appropriate organization personnel.
Promotes hospice referrals in the healthcare community.
In the absence of the Administrator, the Clinical Director will become the acting Administrator and will be vested with the authority to act on behalf of the Administrator.
Assumes other duties as developed and assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience in oncology, long-term care, home health, or hospice.
Current licensure in Indiana and Illinois.
PREFERRED
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, master’ degree in health administrations or related field.
Three (3) years of experience in healthcare management preferred.
Proficient knowledge of Medicare Hospice Certification
SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrates the ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel.
Must have demonstrated ability to deal tactfully with the community.
Understands hospice care and the services provided to patient and family/caregiver through an interdisciplinary group.
