Job Summary:. The Sales & Event Coordinator is responsible for the successful sale and service of private charters. This position will focus primarily on the sale of groups of 40 guests or less with emphasis on the company’s smaller vessels. All coordinators handle corporate, social, and university events. The ideal candidate has 2 years of hospitality and event planning experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the successful sale and service of private charters on board the company's smaller vessels including Charles 1, Henry Longfellow, Happy, and Tiki vessels. This includes corporate, social, and wedding events.
- Respond promptly to incoming inquiries for groups of 40 or less.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of events from conception to completion.
- Prepare proposals, contracts, and other sales documentation as needed.
- Work directly with senior team members to take over planning for any repeat clients.
- Maintain appropriate balance of servicing booked clients and prospecting for new business
- Assist clients with menu planning, bar service, event setup, and entertainment when requested.
- Work closely with operations staff and onboard crew to ensure proper vessel preparations and event details prior to charter
- Oversee onsite events which includes welcoming group contact upon arrival and ensuring guest satisfaction, along with assisting with set-up as needed.
- Ride onboard as crew or cruise supervisor when necessary. This includes daytime and evening events. During the training process and throughout the season, it is required to ride onboard events as a crew member as part of this position.
- Engage in site visits and other client meetings
- Work as manager on duty weekend days and evenings on a rotating basis to cover public cruises and private events at CambridgeSide Mall location.
- Assist with the ticketbooth, public tours and administrative tasks when needed.
Job Requirements
- 2 Years of hospitality and/or event planning experience . Experience in a hotel, wedding venue, or catering company preferred, but not required
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Sales experience is preferred, but not required.
- Self-motivated and able to work as an individual and as part of a team
- Must enjoy working outdoors and onsite events.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of the Boston Harbor and Charles River helpful
- Ability to work nights and weekends April - November. Schedule is (4) weekdays and (1) weekend day April – November. (Occasional weekends can be requested off in advance for personal time if needed).
- Required to have a negative result for a USCG mandated DOT pre-employment drug test with random drug testing as a member of consortium throughout employment with company.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
