Job Summary
We are seeking a controls technician intern to work with the building automation engineer on an upgrade for the chillers control system to be done with Trane. Ideal candidate is one interested in pursuing a career in Building Automation Installation, Programming, and Commissioning systems. The Intern is responsible for successfully completing the internship program departmental project focused on knowledge application. Due to the regulatory environment of our business, this internship includes understanding the importance of compliance with regulatory agencies and associated guidelines. Must be able to meet physical requirements established in this job description.
This is an onsite role in Reno, NV. The pay range for this position is $18 - $21 per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

May regularly operate a computer and occasionally operate other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

Job Qualifications
Education Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or Electronics and Automation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC and chillers control system programming and instrumentation
- Ability to troubleshoots and resolves basic HVAC controls problems.
- Review and understand engineering as-built drawings
- Coordinates with building automation engineer and external vendor to precisely understand requirements for all on-site installation and repairs by forecasting issues, gathering materials and synchronizing on-site work.
- Contribute to commissioning, programming, setting up graphics, communications link, end to end testing, troubleshooting and servicing on assigned projects.
- Assist in documenting point to point verification, sequence of operations validation and job close out requirements.
- Ability to performs basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e. sensors, actuators, etc) and complete all required commissioning documentation.
- Ability to calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment
- Ability to follow all safety standards and attend required safety training
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently
- Documents changes and provides information for as-built documentation.
