What are the responsibilities and job description for the Insurance Verification Specialist position at Charles River Recovery?
Position Overview : Candidate is responsible for contacting insurance companies to confirm a patient's coverage details, including eligibility, plan specifics, copays, deductibles, and any limitations on services, ensuring accuracy of the data entered in the system. Candidate will also meet with patients and / or their families to help understand their insurance coverage and any potential out of pocket costs they may be incur.
Specific Responsibilities :
- Collecting and reviewing patient insurance information, including policy numbers, group numbers, and effective dates.
- Contacting insurance companies to verify coverage for specific medical procedures, including pre-authorization requirements.
- Explaining patient out-of-pocket costs like copays and deductibles based on their insurance plan.
- Accurately updating patient records with verified insurance details
- Providing accurate billing information to the medical billing team based on verified benefits.
- Establish positive relationships with insurance providers.
- Identify trends in reimbursements and report out to supervisor through verbal report and generation of graphics.
- Work closely with all departments
- Contribute actively to the organization through committees and memberships as assigned.
- Keep accurate records of all transaction and communication with insurances.
- Accurately transfer all information to the Billing Department
- Report to work as assigned and keep workplace professional.
- Maintain acceptable overall attendance.
- Promote a favorable / positive work atmosphere.
- Attend in-services and educational training as necessary and as assigned.
- Maintains safety of the physical environment.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Other duties as assigned.
