The Business Management Office (BMO) within the First Line Risk Management Office (1RMO) is responsible for centralizing business management activities, supporting business unit risk management activities, partnering with Schwab’s second line of defense to facilitate risk program change management, and leads working groups across the first and second lines of defense to better enable risk management practices. The BMO team have a deep understanding of risk management practices, project and change management, and relationship management.
The Senior Manager role requires a solid understanding of project design and management along with strong relationship management skills. Additionally, this individual should have familiarity with risk and control self-assessments, issue management, and other compliance related functions to support both the first line of defense as well as the First Line Risk Management Office. As a member of the Business Management Office, this individual will assist in developing programs and solutions for our business partners and our organization. Qualified persons should be experienced in risk mitigation, project management, program development and relationship management.
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree
- Three or more years of work experience in project management or risk management
- Working knowledge of identifying risk and developing risk management program, including awareness of applications and tools to facilitate program management, preferably in a financial services or banking environment
- Strong Microsoft Office knowledge; preferably advanced Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills and familiarity with SharePoint and Tableau.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree such as MBA
- Professional designation such as CPA, CIA, or Series 7 (active registration).
- Three or more years of financial service experience with strong understanding of banking regulations, FINRA and SEC rules including the Investment Advisors Act and securities industry practices.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels of management.
- Ability to build strong relationships and work cross functionally with internal and external constituents.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, research and weigh risk and control issues.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with supporting team members to meet departmental goals.
- Strong time management, organization and prioritization skills; ability to complete multiple concurrent tasks within close deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and detail.
- Exercise sound judgment to influence a strong risk management culture across business practices.
- Self-motivated along with the ability to bring projects and reporting to conclusion.
