Veterinary Technician
Charleston Animal Eye Specialists aims to bring Charleston and the surrounding area state-of-the-art veterinary eye services with care and compassion. We are looking to hire a veterinary technician to join our team! The ideal candidate would have excellent customer service service skills, good technical skills and a great attitude. Our fully renovated 2,200 square foot hospital is equipped with cutting edge technology.
About the Role- The veterinary technician will work with the medical director and existing veterinary team to focus on high quality, comprehensive and effective medical services to ensure the optimal client and patient experience.
Who you are:
- Credentials (RVT, CVT, LVT) preferred but not required
- Highschool diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Veterinary experience: 1 year minimum preferred
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Keep accurate medical records, clerical work
- Flexible, cooperative, dependable, responsible, with good time management and multitasking skills
What you’ll do: The veterinary technician will be responsible for performing both clinical and clerical duties including:
- Assist in exam rooms by obtaining history, holding patients for ophthalmic exams, and performing pre-exam diagnostic testing including Schirmer tear test, ocular tonometry, and fluorescein stain
- Present treatment plans and explain procedures to clients as well as medications and discharge instructions
- Be proficient in veterinary technician duties including catheter placement, intubation, and venipuncture
- Properly induce, maintain, and recover a patient from anesthesia and be able to respond in an anesthetic emergency
- Properly operate and interpret anesthetic monitors including ECG, BP, SPo2, ETCO2, temperature, etc.
- Assist with performing a variety of clerical duties including but not limited to answering phones, collecting payment, and responding to client inquires.
- Preform other duties as assigned
Schedule-
- This is a full-time or part-time position based in Charleston, SC
- 20-40 hour work week
- Monday-Friday
- A flexible schedule required for on call services and some nights and weekends if full-time employment elected
Pay: Compensation is based on experience and skill level
- $20.00-$26.00 per hour
