Job Summary:
The Facilities Coordinator supports the daily operation of all Charleston County Public Library buildings. This position is responsible for ensuring that library buildings, grounds, and vehicles are functional and well-maintained, and coordinating with county facilities staff to resolve any outstanding facilities related maintenance or service requests.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Serves as liaison with Charleston County Facilities regarding maintenance and repairs as well as contracted services (e.g., carpet cleaning, custodial, pest control, etc.)
· Manages work orders using electronic system; serves as point of contact for staff to report maintenance and repair needs
· Serves as liaison with Charleston County Fleet Operations regarding vehicle maintenance and repairs
· Regularly travels to and inspects library facilities to identify maintenance and repair needs and assess performance of contracted service providers
· Budget coordination of facilities projects, repairs, and maintenance
· Ensures that maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner and up to standards
· Ensures that safety and risk protocols and requirements are being met as well as any deficiencies resolved in a timely manner
· Ensures that contracted services are performed up to standards
· Ensures that fleet vehicles are properly maintained
· Serves as manager of the Support Services building
· Serves as contact for after-hours emergencies related to buildings and grounds (e.g., burglar or fire alarms, burst water pipes, etc.)
· Maintains records and works with the County to ensure access to facilities-related records, including contracts, inspection reports, licenses, service agreements, and warranties
· Meets regularly with the Associate Directors to collaboratively work on matters related to the intersection of facilities, and frontline public service
· Coordinates facilities-related projects (e.g., repurposing of furniture from one facility to another); facilitates collaboration among stakeholders during interdepartmental projects
· Performs other related duties as assigned
· Create, maintain, and follow a detailed facilities management plan to support the ongoing and future operations and maintenance needs of library facilities
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Basic understanding of library facilities and equipment to be maintained or the ability to learn quickly
· Ability to understand written directions in manuals and on manufacturer websites
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
· Proficiency with or ability to learn work order software
· Proficiency with basic records management
· Proficiency with project management and organization
· Must be skilled in communicating effectively and pleasantly with others, both orally and in writing, using technical and nontechnical language
· Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus
· Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
· Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel as needed between library branches in Charleston County
Education and Experience:
· Requirement: BA and 8 years post BA experience with 3 years manager experience; High School degree or GED and 12 years job related experience with 3 years manager experience.
· Relevant experience should provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods and emerging technical advances.
· Must possess excellent customer service skills, ability to work well with others, ability to communicate effectively with the public and with library staff and possess a strong work ethic.
· Public library experience a plus

$45,052.80 - $55,598.40 annually commensurate with education and experience.
