What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Assistant Manager position at Charleston County School District?
JOB PURPOSE/REASON:
To preserve the public investment in school property, protect the health and safety of our students, portray a good image of the school to the community and provide a clean and safe environment in which all of our students can learn and develop life skills.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or Equivalent
EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Sufficient experience to perform a variety of work assignments independently (e.g., 2 to 3 years) in the occupational field or comparable skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current SC Class "A" CDL preferred
PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and participate in the installation, maintenance and repair of Grounds systems to ensure that the work performed is in compliance with blueprints, manufacturer specifications, written and/or verbal instruction.
- Coordinates the daily scheduling of all work requests within the Grounds Shop on a priority basis by assigning and evaluating the workloads of personnel to ensure work is preformed in a timely manner.
- Assist with further implementation of preventive maintenance programs for Grounds systems and equipment.
- Submit written reports for the Grounds shop to the Plant Operations Officer.
- Plan and recommend policies and procedures to attain the standard required of Grounds personnel.
- Maintain liaison with contract service personnel.
- Provide advice and assistance in the area of grounds support to principals and administrators.
- Supervision of staff.
- Completion of work orders.
- Completion of employee time sheets.
- Ordering of special equipment and materials.
- Communication with other foremen.
- Maintains record of work orders and invoices; attend meetings.
- Operate heavy machinery; drive trucks.
- Maintain landscaping.
- Performs grounds work in the maintenance, repair, construction and alteration of District grounds.
- Operates a variety of grounds equipment such as pole saws, chain saws, backhoe, tractors, dump truck, power and hand tools.
- Maintains the athletic fields and main campus irrigation by using a centralized computer system.
- Diagnoses electrical problems, tests continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of all components using such instruments as ohm-meter, amp-meter and multi-meter.
- Installs, repairs and maintains irrigation well pumps and systems.
- Cuts, threads, solders, brazes and installs irrigation pipes. - Assembles and installs irrigation valves and pipe fittings composed of iron, steel, cooper, plastic and galvanize to make repairs to irrigation pipe.
- Work flex schedule to facilitate maintenance needs that cannot be performed while students are present including weekend work.
- Perform housekeeping task, truck upkeep and other related job duties as required by supervisor.
- Must be able to operate Tandem Axel Dump Truck
- Must be able to operate Heavy Equipment, Backhoe, Track hoe and Road Grader
- Must be able to transport heavy equipment
