As a Swim Teacher you will teach private and semi-private swim lessons to all ages and skill levels. Be able to create a fun positive learning environment, full of encouragement and growth. Maintain member relationships and keep track of scheduling, payments, and miles driven.
Responsibilities:
- As a Water Safety Instructor, you will create an educational, safe and inviting experience for all participants
- Plan lesson curriculum and log student's progress
- Always be aware of pool hazards and maintain constant supervision of student
- Always be on time to each lesson and have reliable transportation (lesson locations will vary, as you will travel to student's local pool)
- Being alert and ready to provide first aid or handle an emergency (first aid kits are provided)
- Provide a safe, yet challenging environment for student growth
- Adapt your teaching approaches to the age, experience and ability of participants so they can meet course objectives
- As a swim coach, you will participate in regular in-service training sessions
- Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor
- Aquatics instructor should over communicate with both supervisor, students, and parents
Qualifications:
- Must have experience in aquatics such as swim team, lifeguarding, instructing, etc
- Instructors MUST be positive and have enthusiastic, good attitudes, be accountable, & COMMUNICATIVE-Must have experience with children
- Must be able to do all 5 strokes and float
- CPR and First Aid certification required or once held & willing to renew within 2 weeks of hiring.
- Lifeguard training preferred
- Water Safety Instructor certification is not required but is a plus
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- Thorough knowledge and application of swimming and water safety skills
- Thorough knowledge and application of teaching swimming and water safety skills
- An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures-Leadership, instruction, and public relations skills
- Communication skills
- Decision-making skills
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting Wages: $20-24 an hour starting rate, 4-20hrs/week (lighter hours in the fall & spring, more in the Summer).
