Position Summary
The Outdoor Education Coordinator is responsible for delivering exceptional outdoor education and retreat programming at Weddington Farm. Additionally, the OEC would assist in planning and executing our teambuilding programs and environmental education programs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the outdoors and a commitment to designing and delivering nature-based educational programs that cater to different age groups and skill levels. The individual will report to the Director of Educational Programming (DOE), Weddington Farm.
Key Functions Outdoor Programs :
Plans and coordinates a variety of outdoor recreation curriculum including, but not limited to :
o Agricultural / Nature-based activities
o Wilderness education
o Archery
o Fishing
o Low Ropes, High Ropes
o Team Building / Retreats
o Mountain biking
- Create the overall curriculum associated with outdoor recreation, inputting programs, pulling rosters, purchasing supplies, creating program plans and communicating with guests
- Design and deliver JK-12 environmental science activities and nature-based programs for hands on and experiential learning
- Oversee learning outcomes from all nature-based programs in coordination with the DOE
- Collaborate with other divisional teams in supporting and teaching place-based curriculum learning at Weddington Farm
- Coordinates with the Director of Educational Programming, Weddington Farm to plan and teach corporate or school teambuilding programs
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of a variety of outdoor recreation equipment including inspections of the low ropes / high ropes course, mountain bikes, archery range, trails and recreational Ed buildings
- Support agricultural operations as needed up to and including greenhouse seeding, planting, cultivation, crop care, harvest and washing
- Support farm operations which may include care for landscape grounds and some turf
- Works with summer camps to coordinate and execute summer camp recreation schedules. Supervises and leads activities as needed
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and training
- Adhere to all school policies, procedures and standards set by Charlotte Country Day School.
- Other duties assigned including but not limited to event set-up / breakdown, property and building maintenance

Physical Requirements
Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects when needed. Physical demands are mostly on foot; must be able to remain on feet for extended periods working outdoors in all-weather conditions in a highly physical role.
