Responsibilities
As part of Charlotte Lab School’s wellness & culture vision, the Assistant Athletics Director will assist the Athletics Director to establish the vision for Lab’s growing athletics program, build relationships within the community, and set up logistics to ensure a smoothly run program, guided by high standards for professionalism and sportsmanship. Duties and responsibilities will include support and assistance to the Athletics Director in the following areas:
Program Vision
- Working to plan out athletics offerings for the following year;
- Developing an annual budget for athletics;
- Remaining continually abreast of and ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, and safety protocols that guide the execution of youth sports at local, state, and national levels., including Title IX, NCHSAA, NCDPI, NFHS, and any affiliated community-based organizations;
Fundraising
- Identifying and pursuing funding opportunities with individuals and foundations;
- Supporting the initiation and cultivation of relationships with potential partners and donors and facilitating introductions to Executive Director when relevant opportunities arise;
Planning
- Establishing an annual calendar for all aspects of the athletics program, including registration windows, season dates, practice and competition dates and times;
- Scheduling and communicating practice and game competitions across three seasons of play (via community partners and interscholastic collaboration);
- Coordinating the purchase, maintenance, inventorying, and replacement of team equipment and apparel;
- Managing the use of athletics facilities at the school and/or securing/coordinating the use of external facilities as needed;
- Executing game management for all home interscholastic contests and when admission is charged, ensuring the safekeeping and deposit of collected funds;
- Securing and arranging transportation, facilities, meals, and lodging for interscholastic competitions as needed;
Leadership
- Attending all home contests and/or arranging for proper supervision by administrative personnel;
- Monitoring, reviewing, and supporting students’ academic eligibility and well-being, including the creation and implementation of a reporting system to determine academic eligibility for extracurricular activities;
- Maintaining a file of all athletics suspensions and expulsions from teams in regards to giving each athlete Due Process;
Compliance
- Maintaining a permanent file of players, medical examinations, insurance forms, records, parent consent forms, payments, etc. and following up to ensure that Lab is in full compliance with the collection and maintenance of all documentation;
- Maintaining permanent records for each sport, including wins/losses, outstanding records or statistics, letter winners, etc.;
Qualifications
Candidate MUST:
- Be able/willing to learn how to fulfill the responsibilities listed above;
- Hold a Bachelor's degree from a four year institution;
- Have a least 3 years of full-time teaching or leading experience combined;
- Hold or be willing to obtain up-to-date CPR/First Aid Certification;
- Demonstrate experience in, or passion for, leading diverse populations.

Compensation
Compensation for this internal position is a set stipend amount of $1,250.00/semester for specific deliverables and athletics program coordination across the span of the school year, including the full month of June.
