Charlotte Latin School is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an Upper School French teacher starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. This role is a key part of Latin’s Upper School World Languages Department. Collaboration among World Language teachers is essential to maintaining a cohesive and well-rounded learning experience for students. Additionally, this position provides the opportunity to design engaging and unique language courses for both standard and honors upper-level students.This position is ideal for motivated teachers with a knowledge of ACTFL standards and a particular passion for teaching upper school students. Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extra-curricular activities, advising, and/or coaching.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach 4 class sections (Level 1- AP).
- Partner with colleagues to maintain, create, and update course curriculum, as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues on grading and assessment practices.
- Assess students’ academic performance, including regular grading through assigning and grading regular homework assignments, formative assessments, and summative assessments.
- Provide 1:1 support to students during office hours, before and after school.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current within the field
- Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extra-curricular activities, advising, and/or coaching.
- Engage with colleagues to maintain Latin’s strong culture of collegiality.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Experience teaching French is required
- A bachelor's degree in French or a related World Language is required; a Master's is preferred
- An understanding of ACTFL proficiency standards and how they apply to language acquisition.
- OPI rating of Advanced High or above preferred

Working Conditions and Environment

- Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor heat and cold temperatures.
