Summary:
The Budget Analyst continually analyzes and evaluates the working budget for appropriateness of coding and spending, condicts pre-audits and approves the purchases of goods and services on a daily basis. In this role you will help develop the annual budget for assigned areas, research and determines costs for new programs. Recommends increase and reductions in the annual budget.
Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)
Participate in annual operating, capital and school system budget preparation and administration; conduct fiscal impact analyses and revenue and expenditure forecasting; supervise and coordinate the preparation of budget manuals and of comprehensive and timely budget documents.
Advise departments and divisions of budget problems, policies, and procedures; assist in the maintenance of proper budgetary controls.
Assist with the preparation and administration of the school system's annual financial reports; assist department and division staff in developing and improving operational objectives.
Conduct administrative, productivity and systems studies; evaluate and prepare reports and recommendations for improving policies, procedures, methods and systems of operation.
Design and conduct surveys and prepare proposals on financial and staffing requirements; design, develop and perform various independent statistical and research studies to monitor economic processes affecting the budget.
Respond to inquiries from school system and department staff regarding budget issues.
Review allocations and expenditures for compliance with Federal, State and local laws, rules and regulations and grants.
Perform related duties as assigned.
