JOB GOAL

Responsible for leading the delivery of custodial services and facilities management and providing customer service expertise to support efforts that ensure schools and other district sites are operating effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations for an assigned region.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and oversight for custodial services within assigned region.
  • Coordinates and monitors work schedules with school administrators ensuring assignments are accurate and complete.
  • Supervises and oversees various projects and facility inspections assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Operations and / or Managers.
  • Assists with the procurement of parts and supplies that may include budgetary cost, inventory, and ordering.
  • Monitors availability and distribution of cleaning supplies, equipment, and other material inventory.
  • May be required to report or depart from multiple locations across the district.
  • Trains custodial employees to ensure best practices are followed in accordance with district and industry standards.
  • Uses the current work order system to monitor and / or assign daily tasks, projects, and materials.
  • Evaluates the performance of subordinate personnel in accordance with district evaluation policies and guidelines.
  • Meets with principals and other administrative staff to address cleaning and facilities support activity in schools.
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
  • Serves as a liaison and communication link between and among Custodial and Building Services and the individual school staffs (principals and site administrators).
  • Provides exceptional customer service on various issues relative to custodial services, facility management, and operations of assigned sites.
  • Implements and enforces standards and objectives as established by Custodial Services, Environmental Health & Safety, and Building Services departments.
  • Conducts periodic condition assessments / inspections and health and safety risk assessments to support department objectives and corrective action plans.
  • Ensures the accurate completion of the daily payroll process.
  • Responds to and assists with emergency responses (24 / 7) as directed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervision of assigned personnel. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; training employees; evaluating performance; and interviewing, testing, hiring, and assignment of personnel

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills & abilities

  • Knowledge of Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA) cleaning standards and their application and usage
  • Knowledge of different types of hard floor surfaces care techniques
  • Bloodborne pathogen awareness
  • Understands proper use and safety standards for cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and standard procedures
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical skills to understand ratios and percentages for mixing cleaning solutions
  • Knowledge of and ability to execute performance management techniques
  • Ability to work flexible schedules.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, manage and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Education, Training & Experience

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Five years in custodial / janitorial field supervisory responsibilities
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in related field
  • 7 years in custodial / janitorial field
  • 4 years in supervisory position
  • International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA) certification
