As a Packaging Engineering Manager your responsibilities will be:
- Source new packaging solution as required for new and existing products.
- Conduct package testing as necessary to ensure stability and compliance with shipping regulations.
- Ensure product packaging complies with shipping regulations.
- Lead and resolve packaging customer complaints.
- Leads complex projects or assignments within large projects with minimal supervision.
- Lead packaging qualification activities by generating packaging protocols, overseeing test execution, analyzing test data, and authoring qualification reports.
- Provide technical expertise for packaging risk assessments and failure mode/root cause analyses.
- Lead the improvement and standardization of packaging on existing products with focus on performance and cost effectiveness.
- Plan and execute a design of experiments. Perform statistical analysis on data generated from experiments and write final reports.
- Initiate and coordinate packaging line trials including planning, conducting and post-trial activities.
- Partner with purchasing, margin team, ERP, and production departments to determine costs and feasibility of producing proposed packaging.
- Lead internal and external relationships to effectively influence and gain support for initiatives.
A strong Packaging Engineering Manager will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- 5-7 years packaging engineering experience
- Technical depth on a packaging material format or process
- Advance understand of the full packaging development and quality processes.
- Develop trial plans and create lab requests.
- Review and update specification as needed.
- Travel to and facilitate trials at sites.
- Advanced knowledge of requirements related to packaging and labeling ensuring robust package validation and qualification.
- Advance understand of project timeline development.
- Demonstrate skills in organization, attention to details, setting priorities and sound decision making.
- Strong work and personal ethics
- Effectively communicate and work alongside company personnel on all levels ranging from production workers to upper management
- Ability to work efficiently in a high demand, team oriented, and fast-paced environment.
- Be flexible across shifts/days as needed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Familiar with ERP and PLM processes
