As an EHS Regional Manager your responsibilities will be:
- Serves as a role model and demonstrates that safety is a value.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in the development and implementation of EHS tools, programs, standards, policies, procedures, and best practice techniques, cost effectively, and efficiently based on regulatory and internal requirements.
- Research existing and emerging regulations and lead the implementation new EHS regulatory requirements; provide support for compliance and control measures that reduce or eliminate risks. Demonstrated ability to prepare white papers on EHS requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the preparation, maintenance, and compliance with federal, state, and local agency EHS reporting and permitting, and Company EHS Standards.
- Arranges and conducts EHS assessments for chemical, biological, physical hazards in the workplace and keeps appropriate records and writes reports of findings. Demonstrated ability to document program challenges and assists with development of corrective actions and appropriate follow up.
- Manages reviews and evaluates requests and/or applications for the use of hazardous materials or performance of potentially hazardous procedures, provides information to operations and EHS staff, and related committees, as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, design, and oversee various industrial hygiene functions, including assessments, data collection and interpretations. Demonstrated ability to translate industrial hygiene findings to practical solutions to minimize risk.
- Demonstrated ability to Lead emergency response, evacuation planning, investigation, and escalation of environmental incidents; Determine root cause of incidents and provide support of corrective and preventative action plans.
- Establish and lead EHS committees and engagement campaigns; participate in safety committees and safety awareness programs.
- Lead the interface with local, state, and federal agencies.
- Lead the creation and delivery of EHS training programs and requirements.
- Lead the management of EHS monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the support and development of other EHS personnel.
- Ability to drive EHS performance in multiple plants for competing initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to influence all levels of individuals not in their reporting chain as well as those within it to ensure sustainable, continuous EHS performance improvement.
- Collaborate with a diverse group of business leaders and front-line employees.
- Develop, interpret, and explain KPI’s at respective business units and provide leadership to continually improve performance.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement EHS strategies that align with corporate objectives to reduce/mitigate operational risk.
- Maintain accurate daily, weekly, monthly and YTD metrics to report to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems.
- Conduct routine EHS observations, inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Identification and management of hazardous chemicals.
- Training and assisting others to complete designated safety and compliance responsibilities (audits, following safety rules, required training, etc.) Calendar of regulatory training (LOTO, arc flash, fire extinguisher, etc.)
- Lead group training sessions and EHS committee meetings as required.
- Communicating (individual, group and public), coordinating, or administering EHS training as needed (new hire orientation, contractor communication, any other corporate or regulatory required training)
- Ensuring that EHS incidents are reported, responded to, and investigated – root cause is identified and effective CAPAs are created and tracked to closure.
- Serve as a primary first responder for incidents that occur while onsite.
- Demonstrated ability of managing all workplace injuries in accordance with corporate worker’s compensation claim management practices and transitional return to work program.
- Perform other duties, as assigned, in support of the corporate and business unit’s EHS strategic plan.
- Comply with all Product Safety Standards, Safety Standards, and Standard Operating Procedures.
A strong EHS Regional Manager will possess:
- At minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, engineering, chemistry, or related field is preferred.
- EHS certifications such as CSP, CHMM, etc. are preferred.
- 7 years of EHS experience serving in an EHS/Safety/Environmental role and 3 years relevant manufacturing work experience required.
- EHS certifications such as CSP, CHMM, etc. may be considered in lieu of years of EHS experience.
- Technical skills and knowledge of existing EHS standards and methodologies commensurate with assignments and current experience.
- Intermediate computer skills to be proficient in the use of standard office software and EHS specific computer management systems.
- Communications skills must include the ability to provide timely and effective feedback to senior EHS staff and the ability to both receive and provide direction to help design and execute EHS risk assessments and measurement activities.
- Demonstrated ability leading teams of individuals to achieve goals.
- Demonstrated ability to help identify and design various EHS risk assessment activities and associated follow-up communications with both EHS senior staff and stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.
- Strong, detail oriented, along with a focus on customer service, continuous improvement, tact and diplomacy.
- Effective organization and planning skills with the ability to multitask and maintain complex work schedules.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work effectively as part of team.
- Ability to coach, supervise, and/or develop those working within their assigned areas of responsibility.
