Salary: Based on ExperienceReports to: Principal and Director of Special EducationOverview:Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree from accredited university - RequiredMaster's Degree from accredited university - PreferredValid NYS teaching certificate for Students with Disabilities for all grades - MUST Special Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned areaEducation Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementationGeneral knowledge of curriculum and instruction Duties and Responsibilities: Formulate lesson plans based on students IEP goals Develop Individualized Education Plans Maintain Individualized Education Plans yearly Attend Committee on Special Education Meetings Attend yearly Annual Review meetings Analyze student achievements of goals and objectives Plan and execute guided reading lessons based on student needs Administer formative assessments Collaborate with classroom teachers to create and implement differentiated instruction Use of manipulative and hands-on materials for Math Implementation of technology to reach different students for ELA/Math. Differentiate lesson plans based on student needs and goals Formulate yearly annual goals for students as mandated in IEP Progress reports based on student goals Maintain logs and attendance records for all students Meet with the Pupil Personnel Committee team - provide ideas and differentiation strategies based on struggling students' needs. Communicate with parents/guardians and team members about student progress when needed. Attend parent meetings and grade team meetings (when appropriate) Collaborate with the Special Education Director, AIS team members, ELL Teacher, school psychologist, speech and language teacher, and occupational therapist teacher Create/Implement a workable schedule for your resource room groups. Other Duties:Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies forSpecial education teachers.Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.Maintain confidentiality.Other duties as assigned.CompensationA competitive compensation package including base salary and complete benefits is available.
