JOB SUMMARY:
The Local Good Pantry Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Local Good Pantry Director to help direct daily operations of the food pantry. Main responsibility will be overseeing intake of existing and new neighbors at the pantry with the guidance of the Local Good Pantry Director, along with creating a positive environment for volunteers and neighbors. This is a part-time, 25-hours-per-week position.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee intake for all neighbors during Distribution Days at the pantry
- Manage intake for all new applications
- Input all new neighbors into the pantry data base in a timely manner
- Track daily numbers of drive-through and walk-up neighbors
- Build an Intake team, including bilingual volunteers, to assist with intake during Distribution Days
- Oversee weekly food orders for North Texas Food Bank
- Work on the warehouse floor on non-distribution days
- Set up (restock and ensure pantry is clean & presentable) after pantry operating hours
- Maintain temperature logs for all freezers and refrigerators
- Assist pantry staff with daily re-stocking and pantry maintenance as needed
- Maintain monthly credit card expenses along with reimbursements for all pantry receipts
- Pay any outstanding invoices
- Keep all documents, forms, and signs written and printed for pantry communication
- Work closely with Local Good Pantry Director and Volunteer Coordinator to implement mission and vision of the pantry to all volunteers, neighbors, and community.
JOB PROFILE:
The Local Good Pantry Intake Coordinator needs to have great customer service and people skills. This role will be working directly with our neighbors. They must show leadership strength with the ability to lead a wide diversity of volunteers. They must have attention to detail and show trustworthiness. They also need to attend Chase Oaks and live into the mission and DNA of Chase Oaks.
SPECIFIC SKILLS / STRENGTHS
- Excellent communication and relational skills to assist and coordinate with neighbors, volunteers, and staff
- A positive, constructive attitude and disposition
- Ability to implement new ideas to help with growth of the food pantry
EXPERIENCE DESIRED
- Experience leading volunteer teams
- Being bi-lingual is a plus but not required
EDUCATION DESIRED
- High School Diploma
- College Degree or pursuing college is a plus
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- There are no supervisory responsibilities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to speak effectively and understandably to clients and volunteers
- The ability to respond to common inquiries regarding the Local Good Pantry
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Comfortable working with data bases such as PantrySOFT
- Comfortable creating spreadsheets for stats received from intake of neighbors
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Lifting up to 30 pounds in the warehouse happens on a daily basis.
- This role will work mostly outside during open distribution hours which includes Texas summer heat and colder winter days
- They may be asked to move pallets with a pallet jack out of the walk-in refrigerator to ensure warehouse and distribution boxes have the food needed.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be asked to bend and kneel.
