JOB SUMMARY:
As part of Chase Oaks Church, the Local Good Resale provides quality home goods to the community while generating volunteer opportunities and funds to support the impactful work of Local Good Collective.
The Sales Associate will support the day-to-day operations of Local Good Resale, a nonprofit store where proceeds benefit the programs and services of the Local Good Collective. This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with store operations, and contributing to a positive and welcoming environment for customers, staff, and volunteers. This is a part-time position (25-hours-per-week).
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service and Sales
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their shopping experience, ensuring a positive and welcoming environment
- Provide product information, answer questions, and help customers find items that meet their needs
- Operate the Point-of-Sale system (Square) to process transactions accurately and efficiently
- Handle customer concerns or complaints professionally, escalating issues to the Store Manager when appropriate
Store Operations
- Assist with organizing and maintaining the sales floor, donation area, and storage spaces to ensure cleanliness and safety
- Restock merchandise, displays, and collaborate on creating an appealing store layout
- Support inventory management, including tagging, pricing, and organizing incoming donations
- Follow store opening and closing procedures, including securing the register and ensuring the store is clean and ready for business
Team Support
- Assist the Store Manager with recruiting, training, and leading volunteers
- Collaborate with team members, including staff and volunteers, to achieve sales and operational goals
- Assist with content creation for social media platforms
- Complete other tasks assigned by the Store Manager as needed
Community Engagement
- Represent Local Good Resale and its mission to customers and the community
- Support promotional events and initiatives that drive traffic and sales
- Help foster a sense of community within the store, engaging with customers to build loyalty and awareness of Local Good Collectives mission
JOB PROFILE:
SKILLS / STRENGTHS PREFERRED
- Previous retail or customer service experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic proficiency with Point-of-Sale systems and Microsoft Office
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Must be adaptable and open to change
- Problem-solving skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Sensitivity to diverse cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds, values, and attitudes
- Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds and standing or walking for extended periods
AVAILABILITY
- Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, Saturdays, and holidays as needed
EDUCATION DESIRED
- High School diploma or GED required
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to speak effectively and understandably on the phone
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to common inquiries
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Knowledge of Point-of-Sale systems
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Data entry and database experience
