Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Temporary Accountant to support our accounting and accounts payable operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing payments, reviewing invoices, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enter and verify all Accounts Payable transactions, including miscellaneous payments and purchase order payments, for check, wire, or ACH processing.
- Review incoming mail for vendor invoices, obtain departmental approvals, and match invoices to purchase orders.
- Ensure correct coding of invoices and enter them into the D365 system.
- Review the Accounts Payable Aging Report to monitor outstanding obligations.
- Provide electronic authorization and supporting documentation for check runs, ensuring proper approval and attachment within D365.
- Monitor purchase order balances and ensure sufficient funding is available through year-end.
- Train new personnel on Accounts Payable functions, including miscellaneous and purchase order payments.
- Collaborate with procurement to manage purchase orders, advise on balances, and process modifications as needed.
- Track open checks, notify vendors of outstanding payments, and coordinate reissuance of checks when necessary.
- Assist with research and inquiries related to accounting and accounts payable.
- Serve as a liaison for vendors and internal teams to resolve payment issues.
- Support the Director of Budgets & Accounts Payable in implementing and enforcing financial policies.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Accounting required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or accounts payable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and maintain control under pressure.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Salary : $24 - $27
