The intern will work closely with ERS’s Human Resources Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gain exposure to critical HR functions while contributing to meaningful projects that support ERS’s mission. This hands-on experience will provide valuable insight into public service
HR management and professional growth opportunities.

Internship responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Shadow SMEs to gain insights into various HR functions and responsibilities.
• Assist in developing and executing recruitment strategies for new and hard-to-fill positions.
• Participate in exit interviews and conduct 30-day new hire check-ins to assess employee satisfaction and integration.
• Gather data, conduct research, prepare and presents reports to support HR decision-making and strategy.
• Support HR special projects, ad hoc summer initiatives, and employee engagement surveys.
• Collaborate across different HR functions for a well-rounded understanding of HR operations.
• Help develop and maintain reports using the HRIS system, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
• Assist in reviewing, updating, and drafting HR policies to ensure compliance with current regulations and organizational best practices.
• Evaluate and revise existing HR templates, including forms, letters, and guidelines. Develop new templates as needed to support HR functions and ensure consistency in documentation.
• Support the analysis and updating of the Compensation & Classification plan in alignment with legislative changes.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all tasks.
• Passion for Human Resources or Organizational Development, with a focus on contributing to the success of a state agency.
• Excellent communication skills, adept at building rapport with team members, new hires, and leadership to foster a collaborative work environment.
• Proficient in researching, analyzing, and preparing ad hoc reports to support decision-making and organizational needs.
• Eagerness to learn and a proactive mindset, consistently taking initiative to expand responsibilities and improve processes.
Qualification:
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Active undergraduate or graduate student at an institution of higher education, pursuing a degree in Human Resource Management or a similarly related field.
• Familiar with HR information systems (HRIS) preferred, with a demonstrated willingness and quick adaptability to learn.
Pay Information: For active undergraduate students, the hourly pay for this internship is $18.00. For active graduate students, the hourly pay is $20.00.
Other Information: This is an in-office role where each shift is worked at the ERS building. This position may require access to privileged, confidential, or sensitive data. ERS will require an FBI criminal history check on all selected intern candidates.
Please Note: The selected candidate will be employed by a temporary staffing agency and will fulfill an intern assignment at ERS. Part-time (20 hours/week) or full-time (40 hours/week) internship schedules will be considered.
Salary : $18 - $20
