What are the responsibilities and job description for the Investment Analyst Intern position at ChaseSource?
The Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) manages benefits for more than 256,000 active employees and retirees of State of Texas agencies and certain higher education institutions. A significant portion of current and future retirement benefits are funded by investment returns from the ERS Trust, which totals more than $40 billion. The Investments Division of ERS allocates these funds across six primary asset classes: Public Equity, Private Equity, Fixed Income, Real Estate, Hedge Funds, and Infrastructure.
We are seeking highly motivated undergraduate students to join our paid 10-week investment internship program. During that time, you will learn about the key aspects of the ERS investment strategy while completing a highly immersive rotational program across its various asset classes.
Learning Objective:
Interns will learn about the Trust and asset class investment strategies from ERS investment professionals.
Internship responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Provide written or oral recommendations, analysis, and research to ERS investment staff
• Complete an agreed upon research project to present at the end of the 10-week program
• Collaborate on additional ad-hoc projects to enhance the goals of the ERS investment program
• Evaluate the potential impact of current macroeconomic events on ERS investment strategy
• Monitor market, industry, and asset class trends
• Collaborate with members of various ERS teams to optimize Trust performance and goals
• Attend prospective and current investment manager meetings
• Diligence prospective investments, including quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Assist investment staff as needed
Qualifications:
• Active student at an institution of higher learning
• Interest in pursuing a career in finance or investing with a strong desire to learn
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Enthusiasm to learn more about public pension system investing
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Desire to work in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently
• Great work ethic with demonstrated success involving analytical work
• Ability to develop positive working relationships with the highest levels of respect and integrity
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Other Information: ERS operates in a hybrid work environment meaning shifts will predominately be onsite at ERS building, but may include a few days working a hybrid schedule.
