Transportation Driver Schedule:
· Monday – Friday
· 10AM – 6PM
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for performing resident care activities and related services necessary in caring for
the personal needs, safety and comfort of residents as assigned. Responsible for transporting new residents using the facility van to and from the hospital.
Company policies and procedures.
The specific responsibilities of this position are described in the “Essential Functions” and may
involve significant physical activities including standing, lifting (up to 60 pounds unassisted),
bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting. All employees of nursing homes may be
required to provide lifting and transfer assistance to residents. Lifting and/or transferring some
residents will require use of a lifting device and/or assistance of other staff.
The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned
duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and
established company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
License/Registration: As required by federal and state law. Must have a valid driver’s license
and safe driving record.
Education: Prefer a minimum of a high school diploma and completion of the state-approved
training programs, including on-the-job training
Experience: Prefer some previous experience in health-care facilities
Other: Exhibit genuine interest in residents; patience and tact in dealing with residents, families,
and visitors; initiative and judgment in recognizing symptoms indicative of resident’s adverse
reactions to treatment; willingness to perform a variety of simple repetitive tasks.
Essential Functions:
All essential functions should be reviewed with the Supervisor every six months and new goals
established if results are not meeting expectations.
The designation of “Essential Functions” and “Other Duties” is for purposes of compliance with
the Americans with Disabilities Act. Employees holding this position will be required to perform all job duties, consistent with laws. In addition, employees must meet applicable health requirements imposed by law.
Resident Care Responsibility:
-Coordinates and develops schedules for transportation of residents with Admission team.
-Assist with resident care needs and comforts during transportation.
-Ensures residents are well-groomed and dressed appropriately for transportation.
-Assists with lifting, turning, positioning, and transporting residents.
-Assists resident with bowel or bladder functions, e.g., toileting, incontinence care.
-Checks residents frequently to assure that their personal care needs are being met.
-Assists with nursing functions as directed.
Safety Responsibility:
-Ensures that facility rules, infection control standards, policies and procedures are followed.
-Reports and documents any hazardous conditions and/or incidents or accidents of resident, staff
or visitors to the appropriate personnel.
-Demonstrates proper use and care of all equipment and chemicals required to perform duties,
including any W/C lifts on facility vehicles.
-Secures all residents in the vehicle with safety devices/seat belts to ensure safety.
-Monitors the safety of the resident at all times during transportation and outings.
-Performs duties, which may include transportation of residents, as assigned in Facility Disaster
Plan.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
-Attends and participates in meetings and training sessions as directed including in-service and
performance committees as directed.
-Works overtime, holiday, and weekend hours as scheduled and other non-scheduled hours as
required by management.
-Follows facility and company dress and hygiene policies.
-Knows Resident’s Rights and assists residents in exercising and/or protecting those rights.
-Performs other duties as directed by management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
