If you possess a High School Diploma or GED along with three years of experience in general maintenance, you might qualify for the role of Maintenance Worker III with Chatham County Parks and Recreation. Examples of Duties
Under supervision, you
- Perform various semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, construction, drainage, and/or repair work in streets, parks, bridges, or other public areas within the County.
- Participate in preventive maintenance, emergency repair, and new construction.
- Perform regular chemical herbicide applications and maintain records of work activities.
- May also perform specialized maintenance repair work on hand tools.
- Perform physical labor in varied weather conditions.
- Must be available to work nights and weekends in emergency situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- Three (3) years’ experience in general maintenance; or
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must be able to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to drive a truck with an attached trailer.
- Must safely operate and maintain related vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must provide and wear approved steel toe protective footwear during regular working hours.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
