Description
With your trade school training and four (4) years of general construction work experience, you may be the Maintenance Worker IV we need. If you meet the minimum qualifications apply today.
Examples of Duties
Under general direction, you
- Perform skilled and complex journeyperson level maintenance and repair in a variety of trades, including carpentry, storm drain, concrete, and asphalt.
- Drive County vehicles, perform preventative maintenance, and supervise a small crew.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- This role is on Critical Workforce Category 2, and you must be able to be on call on a 24-hour basis.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- Trade School training in a skilled trade, and
- At least four (4) years of general construction work experience in one or more skilled crafts; or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License at time of application.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Hazardous Material endorsement within six months of hire.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Must provide and wear approved steel toe protective footwear during normal working hours.
- Must be available for on-call duty during non-working hours, holidays, and weekends, and must use personal transportation to respond.
- Must possess the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must possess the ability to instruct others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in multiple skilled crafts.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
