The Chatham County Clerk of Superior Court is seeking a qualified Deputy Clerk IV to oversee the operations of the Civil Division and ensure compliance with court regulations. - Supervises, trains, evaluates, and coordinates the work of Deputy Clerks to ensure compliance with Court rules and regulations.
- May manage the day-to-day operations of the Civil Division and assigned personnel.
- Develops and manages plans to preserve and maintain confidential evidence and historical records.
- Performs quasi-legal work related to the operation of the Court, including assigning all civil cases under Court rules and regulations, preparing and entering all Judgments and Orders, and issuing Court notices to all involved parties.
- Processes case files, applications, appeals, transfers, licenses, and other legal documents per related laws and guidelines, including warrants, garnishments, interrogatories, criminal files, civil files, Criminal Sentence Orders, and other related legal documents.
- Participates in a variety of court processes and operations.
- Maintains effective working relationships with Judges, assigned supervisors, other County personnel, attorneys, elected officials, State and local agencies, and the public.
- Performs a variety of specialized administrative support duties.
- Opens, maintains, tracks, and closes cases and other court papers.
- Performs work that requires exercising sound judgment under stressful situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field, and
- At least three (3) years’ experience in a court-related environment; or
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Must be proficient in using computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to type a minimum of 25 words per minute. Selected candidates will be required to complete keyboarding and clerical testing during the interview process.
- According to your assignment, you may be required to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
