Under the direction of the Environment Program Manager, you will 

  • Coordinate the County’s compliance with the State of Georgia mandated National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.
  • Build and maintain the County’s digital inspection system using Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) software (ArcGIS Pro, Survey123 Online, Survey123 Connect, ArcGIS Online, ArcMap, ArcCatalog) or equivalent.
  • Pilot Unmanned Aircraft Vehicles (UAVs) in a safe and efficient manner to capture quality aerial photography in support of inventory maintenance, permit compliance, code enforcement and to support other missions of the County.
  • Ensure equipment is functioning properly and accurate records are maintained.
  • Provide coordination between the Engineering department and other County departments to ensure that County functions and operations are conducted in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations.
  • Manage environmentally sensitive new construction projects, as well as other environmentally sensitive projects.
  • Complete all reporting requirements of the NPDES permit, including annual report submittals to the State.
  • Write grant applications for environmentally sensitive projects.
  • Conduct public outreach and educational activities as required by the NPDES permit and assist with outreach required by other environmental programs, such as Flood Damage Prevention.
  • Present information about storm water management, pollution prevention, soil erosion and sediment control, resource management, environmental protection, and other topics to civic groups, garden clubs, and schools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Geology, Public Administration, or a related field, and 
  • At least two (2) years of related work experience in government or a quasi-governmental agency, including experience operating drones and using ESRI software; or 
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  
  • Must possess or be able to obtain the Georgia Level 1B and II Erosion and Sedimentation Certifications within six (6) months of hire.  
  • Must possess or be able to obtain an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot’s License within six (6) months of hire.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Salary : $56,069
