What are the responsibilities and job description for the Zoning Inspector I position at Chatham County Government?
Do you have two (2) years of experience in building construction work? If you meet our minimum requirements, you may qualify as a Zoning Inspector with the Chatham County Building Safety Department.In this role, you
- Perform inspections of construction, business, and residential sites for conformance with the Chatham County Zoning Ordinance, the Chatham County Property Maintenance Ordinance, and other codes.
- Utilize communication and customer service skills as you work with contractors, realtors, and property owners and respond to public inquiries.
- Prepare records and documentation of completed inspections using computers and handheld terminals.
- Perform duties that require attention to detail.
- Perform work that may include walking through rough terrain.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- At least two (2) years of experience in building construction work; or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must possess or be able to obtain certification as an International Code Council (ICC) Housing and Zoning Code Specialist within 12 months of hire.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Salary : $48,022
