Job Title: Accountant/Payroll Clerk

Compensation: Range $18.00 to $20.00, Full Time Non-exempt

Job Summary:
The Accountant/Payroll Clerk manages day-to-day fund-based accounting, payroll processing, and financial recordkeeping. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with foundational accounting skills and a passion for nonprofit work.
Key Responsibilities:
Fund-Based Accounting & Bookkeeping:
- Maintain accurate fund accounting records (restricted vs. unrestricted funds).
- Process accounts payable/receivable, expense reports, and bank reconciliations.
- Assist with grant tracking and expense allocation.
- Generate financial reports
Payroll Processing:
- Assist in the processing of bi-weekly payroll for employees.
- Assist with accurate tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and compliance with federal and Tennessee payroll laws.
- Submit payroll taxes (federal, state, local) and assist with year-end W-2s/1099s.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries.
Compliance & Support:
- Help prepare documentation for annual audits and Form 990.
- Maintain organized financial files (digital and physical).
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Associate’s degree in accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience). Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Experience: 1–3 years in bookkeeping, payroll, or nonprofit accounting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar) and payroll software (e.g., Gusto, ADP). Basic Excel skills
- High attention to detail, ability to handle confidential data, and teamwork.
