Primary Responsibilities
- Plans, delivers, and assesses highly effective instruction aligned to national and state content standards.
- Enact Knoxville Prep curriculum using evidence-based instructional practices tailored to students’ needs.
- Communicates specific learning objectives to students.
- Link lesson content to students’ prior knowledge of reading and English background experience and/or real-world application of content.
- Captures student attention through active involvement.
- Administers student assessments and utilize data to identify areas of growth.
- Establishes clear content and language objectives for all lessons.
- Engages in continuous and sustained reflection on teaching practices and leadership behaviors, and adapt methods as needed to achieve school goals and performance objectives.
- Develops strong and sustained relationships with parents and members of the community by creating opportunities for involvement in students’ learning and development.
- Plans and collaborates with Knoxville Prep teachers and colleagues to reach shared goals and objectives.
- Fosters a motivating, supportive, learning-centered culture of excellence in a well-structured and managed classroom environment.
- Establishes and enforces rules of behavior and procedures for maintaining order in their classroom.
- Be innovative. Create exciting and engaging, inquiry-oriented learning activities.
Characteristics and Qualifications
- Ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Must have a current middle grades certification, 6-8 English through the State of Tennessee.
- A self-starter interested in working in a fast-paced, startup environment that requires flexible roles.
- A high level of personal integrity and professionalism.

- A capacity to motivate and lead in order to yield the highest academic performance possible from scholars.

- Experience in working with middle grades students in urban environments.
- Evidence of advancing student achievement on state assessments required if candidate has prior teaching experience.
