Position Summary :
The Humanities and Fine Arts Department at Chattanooga State Community College is looking for a full-time tenure track Spanish instructor. The ideal candidate will exhibit a passion for educating the College’s increasingly diverse student population. We are searching for a person who will enthusiastically engage students in Spanish language courses and serve as a faculty leader for the department. Successful candidates will be innovative, collaborative, and supportive individuals who demonstrate a sensitivity to diversity, collegiality and excellence in teaching.
Teaching Excellence
- Develops and updates curriculum for Spanish as needed.
- Upholds and models professional behavior to include the best scholarly and ethical standards.
- Works closely with part-time Spanish and language instructors in the department.
- Maintains collegial, professional and ethical conduct.
- Submits results into the College’s outcomes and assessments database.
- Provides effective high-quality instruction using multiple modes of teaching and learning to include online, hybrid, and face- to-face, etc. based on department needs.
- Teaches a variety of Spanish courses assigned based on department needs, which may include dual enrollment courses.
- Assists in program and curriculum review, revision, and development.
- Supports the department and the College by participating in faculty assembly / governance / leadership, committee involvement / service, and faculty development specifically outside of one’s discipline.
- Maintains accurate academic and professional records and reports in a timely fashion.
- Shows organized expectations for learning and academic achievement that are clearly documented in each course syllabus and clearly communicates those expectations to students.
- Integrates a variety of teaching and learning approaches that are designed to respond to the diverse experiences of students in classes and project a positive attitude about each student’s ability to learn.
