What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Junior Counselor position at Chelmsford Public Schools?
POSITION: Summer Junior CounselorThis will be a Seasonal, non-benefited position running July 7th-August 8th. The weekly hours will vary based on the needs of the program. Program hours vary. Ability to work morning and afternoon shifts will be required.
JOB GOAL: To assist in providing an enriching, exciting, and fun summer experience to the children enrolled in our Chelmsford Community Education Summer Programs, ensuring all participants have a memorable time during any activities provided. This position covers all Chelmsford Community Education Programs, including but not limited to: Summerfest, SummerQuest, Field Play, etc.QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A High School student of at least 15 years of age with Working Papers. 2.
Related experience working with children/teens desirable.3. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the Director of Community Education.5. CORI and fingerprinting completed and accepted.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Assist in implementing the daily provided program plan.2. Working with children ages PreK-9th Grade in a positive and supportive manner.3. Ability to work on the floor, lift over 50 lbs, work in outdoors during all weather conditions, stay on their feet, and other physical requirements as needed. Some programs will travel daily rain or shine.4.
Under direction of leadership team,assist in plans and activities for all students.5. Willingness to be trained.6. Accept and Adhere to all guidelines set forth in handbooks. 7.
Report all necessary problems and/or information to Counselors or leadership. 8. Assist with the supervision of students. 9.
Assume responsibility for classroom/students during the Counselor's/Instructor's short absence. 10. Perform all other related duties as directed or as responsibilities necessitate.11. Attend and complete all required training, and attend 1 day or prep/setup as required prior to the Summer.12.
Perform various instructional, clerical, supportive and other related duties under the direction of leadership.12. Help offer our students an amazing summer filled with games, laughter and positive interaction.Terms Of Employment: 1. Position ranges from part time to full time.2. Hours will vary based on program.3.
