Position Summary: Facilitate communication between parents/guardians and school staff through interpreting services. This includes bridging language and cultural barriers in order to protect educational rights of families and their children.
Job Responsibilities:
- Interpret as needed for school meetings and events district-wide.
- Be the bridge between Spanish speaking parents/guardians and CPS staff.
- Interpret from English into Spanish and from Spanish into English.
- Provide linguistic and cultural assistance to the parents/guardians and the CPS staff members as needed and appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree
- Spanish-English Bilingual Written/Oral Proficiency
- Proficiency in Portuguese
- Microsoft Word
- Confidentiality Required
- Minimum of Associate's degree or 60 college credits
- Experience the educational setting preferred.
Terms: This will be a non-bargaining unit position and is eligible for benefits. 37.5 hours per week (includes ½ hour unpaid lunch). This position will take place during the school year. The number of school days are 185 days.
