About Chemring Energetic Devices
Chemring Energetic Devices (CED) is a leading manufacturer of energetic devices for space and defense applications. Due to rapid growth, we are adding a new Energetic Process Engineer to support our explosive chemical blending and pyrotechnic manufacturing operations.
This is an ideal role for a recent graduate (Class of 2023 or 2024) or a student graduating in May or June 2025 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering and an interest in energetic materials, chemistry, and advanced manufacturing. You will receive specialized IMPEX training and gain hands-on experience in process development, automation, and safety compliance.

You will receive specialized IMPEX training and gain hands-on experience in process development, automation, and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop & Optimize Pyrotechnic Manufacturing Processes – Ensure safe handling, blending, and testing of energetic materials.
- Analyze & Characterize Energetic Materials – Utilize laboratory equipment and ballistic modeling to assess material performance.
- Lead Process Improvement & Automation – Collaborate with automation engineers to enhance safety, efficiency, and process control.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance & Safety – Work with HSE teams to maintain compliance with DOT, ATF, OSHA, and environmental safety regulations.
- Implement Safety Best Practices – Support Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
- Participate in Hands-On Manufacturing – Gain real-world experience in energetic loading, testing, and production.
- Collaborate Across Teams – Work closely with Engineering, Operations, and HSE teams to drive innovation while maintaining a strong safety culture.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or strong chemistry coursework).
- Recent graduate (Class of 2023 or 2024) or a student graduating in May or June 2025.
- Strong interest in energetic materials, chemistry, and advanced manufacturing.
- Familiarity with HSE principles, process safety, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, ATF, DOT).
- Experience with data/statistical analysis tools (Minitab, MATLAB) is a plus.
- Experience with CAD modeling (Creo, SolidWorks) is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
