This position oversees all accounting, reimbursement, and internal data processing operations within the Department of Human Services. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising staff in performing accounting, record-keeping, and auditing tasks.
- Ensuring the proper implementation of internal controls.
- Planning and organizing the work of others, and taking responsibility for their performance.
- Teaching and imparting knowledge, ensuring employees are equipped with necessary skills.
- Preparation and generation of various fiscal, statistical and forecasting reports to various government agencies and internal users;
- Interpretation and implementation of claiming and reimbursement regulations of State, Federal and private agencies;
- Utilizing and understanding multiple state and local database systems for data processing and reporting.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A)Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Accounting, plus two (2) years work experience which shall have involved complex accounting procedures and the preparation of fiscal reports; or B)Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration plus four (4) years experience which shall have involved complex accounting procedures and the preparation of fiscal reports; or C)An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined in (A) and (B). Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university, or a New York State registered four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree. • Submission to FBI fingerprinting • Submission of new employee information through the E-Verify system to verify that the employee may be legally hired within the United States (USCIS Form I-9) • Passing of a Physical and Drug screen • Submission to a Special Investigation Unit check
