What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specialist, Assurance position at Cheniere Energy, Inc.?
The Assurance Specialist will work closely with business partners to implement and maintain risk mitigation, assurance and supplier compliance programs and processes to comply with government regulations and company standards. Additionally, this role will be accountable for supporting the integration of new business processes, identification and risk mitigation, and assurance principles resulted from our SCM improvement roadmap and transformation.
The SCM Assurance Specialist is responsible for:
- Support the vision and strategic direction for risk mitigation, assurance and supplier compliance aligned to Supply Chain Management.
- Works with cross-functional teams in the development and execution of risk and assurance strategy.
- Support the development and execution of procedures to monitor supplier compliance, risk mitigation and assurance.
- Seek and support the development of opportunities/projects for process improvement.
- Support the development of audit programs that address internal controls, management controls, and policy & regulatory compliance.
This is a non-DOT position.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Integrates with business partners and suppliers to ensure Cheniere suppliers are qualified and compliant.
- Leverages Cheniere’s scale to coordinate business needs with suppliers.
- Acts as the single point of accountability for compliance, assurance, and risk activities.
- Collaborates with other SCM team members to assure assurance activities are effective and measured.
- Supports business partners and stakeholders in the gathering, handling and resolution of compliance and risk actions and findings for effective assurance management.
- Champions HSE, regulatory and compliance
Compliance, Risk and Assurance
- Perform the pre-qualification of new suppliers.
- Conduct daily monitoring of compliance and assurance requirements for contractors and suppliers. Support and facilitate resolution of non-compliance status as needed.
- Scan for SCM risks and periodically update key stakeholders on the risk horizon with mitigations.
- Develop ad-hoc reporting and presentations to identify opportunities and recommendations to support business decision-making.
- Support the transformation of the compliance and assurance program at Cheniere Energy, Inc.
- Support coordination and closure of the audit program
- Support coordination and update of relevant SCM procedures and policies.
- Perform supplier regulatory reviews for safety, D&A testing, background checks, and training

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge:
- General understanding of LNG, Oil & Gas, or pipeline operations.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of assurance programs and regulatory requirements, such as:
- Supplier qualification and validation
- Transportation Worker Identification (TWIC)
- Industrial Safety Training Council
- Drug and Alcohol testing and screening
- Pre-employment background checks
- Operator Qualification (OQ)
- Safety Training and HSE programs
- General knowledge of Insurance requirements and financial assessment and analysis.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and applications, such as: Oracle, SAP, GEP, Ariba, etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education, Training and Certifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Engineering, or related business/science. Equivalent years of experience will be considered.
Experience :
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Supply Chain Management or related fields with transferable skills and experiences, preferably within the LNG or oil and gas industry.

You’ll have access to great IT equipment and support and can readily access the downtown tunnels, restaurants and gyms. You may occasionally need to travel to our sites at Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi and those sites are governed by FTZ regulations which does include drug and alcohol testing.
