Director of Talent

We seek a visionary talent leader with extensive experience in technical recruiting and strategic HR operations to build and shape our talent function as we scale. This pivotal leadership role will be the founding member of our People & Talent organization, responsible for designing and implementing our talent strategy while establishing the foundation for our people operations infrastructure.


Your Superpowers

Strategic Talent Leadership – You develop and execute talent acquisition strategies that deliver exceptional outcomes in competitive markets, particularly for technical and specialized roles.

● Talent Function Architect – You have built or signicantly scaled talent acquisition functions, implementing systems, processes, and employer branding initiatives that attract top-tier candidates.

● Executive Partnership – You serve as a trusted advisor to leadership teams, translating business objectives into talent strategies while inuencing company culture and employee experience.

● Organizational Design Expertise – You understand how to design scalable people operations that support high-growth environments while maintaining operational excellence.

● Strategic Hands-On Leader – You seamlessly shift between high-level strategy and daily tactical execution, comfortable writing job descriptions one moment and presenting talent strategy to the board the next.


The Job's Responsibilities

As Director of Talent at Cherish, you will be responsible for:


Strategic Talent Leadership

Partnering with the executive team to develop and implement a comprehensive talent strategy aligned with our business objectives and growth trajectory.

● Creating our employer value proposition and brand strategy to position Cherish as an employer of choice for elite technical and business talent.

● Designing and implementing innovative sourcing strategies to build robust talent pipelines for critical technical and leadership roles.

● Personally crafting compelling job descriptions that accurately reect our roles while attracting top-tier candidates.

● Establishing recruitment key performance indicators and analytics frameworks to continuously measure and improve talent acquisition effectiveness.

● Developing strategic workforce planning models to anticipate hiring needs across engineering, product, business, and other functions.

● Leading executive and specialized technical searches, personally managing relationships with key candidates and external partners.

● Developing and executing a comprehensive university recruiting strategy, establishing relationships with top academic institutions to build early career talent pipelines.

● Coordinating and personally representing Cherish at career fairs and recruiting events, handling all logistics and follow-up activities.

● Creating scalable systems for assessing talent, ensuring consistent evaluation frameworks that identify exceptional candidates while promoting diversity and inclusion.


People Operations Leadership

Building and managing our relationship with Trinet, establishing governance for our payroll, benifets, and HR compliance infrastructure.

● Designing and implementing our onboarding program to accelerate time-to-productivity for new hires while reinforcing our culture and values.

● Personally conducting onboarding sessions and handling the logistics of employee orientation and integration.

● Creating and maintaining all HR documentation including employee handbook, policies, and process guides.

● Developing HR policies and processes that scale with our growth while maintaining our entrepreneurial culture.

● Partnering with leadership to develop our compensation philosophy and structure, ensuring market competitiveness while promoting internal equity.

● Collaborating with leadership to establish performance management and employee development frameworks that drive organizational effectiveness.

● Serving as a trusted advisor on organizational design, team dynamics, and change management as we scale.

● Guiding immigration and global talent mobility strategy, ensuring we can attract and retain international talent effectively.

● Managing the offer process end-to-end, including preparation of offer letters, compensation negotiations, and reference checks.


To excel in this role, you have demonstrated exceptional talent leadership and

strategic HR expertise. Specically, you have:

8 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition leadership roles, with a strong focus on technical and specialized talent.

● Proven track record of building talent acquisition functions from the ground up or significantly scaling existing operations in high-growth environments.

● Experience designing and implementing sophisticated sourcing strategies for engineering, product, and other technical roles.

● Deep expertise with talent technologies and systems, including applicant tracking systems, CRM platforms, and analytics tools.

● Experience serving as a strategic partner to executives and business leaders, translating business needs into eective talent solutions.

● Demonstrated success in building employer brands and creating compelling candidate experiences.

● Knowledge of HR operations, including compensation strategy, performance management, and employee development.

● Experience with managing relationships with PEO providers or similar HR service organizations.

● Track record of building successful university recruiting programs and campus relationships.

● Strong analytical capabilities and data-driven approach to talent acquisition and workforce planning.

● Understanding of immigration and global mobility considerations for technical talent.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related eld; Master's degree preferred.

● 8 years of progressive talent acquisition leadership experience, with at least 3 years in a strategic leadership capacity.

● Proven experience in core HR operations including employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance.

● Demonstrated experience developing and implementing HR policies, handbooks, and processes in growing organizations.

● Experience in high-growth technology companies, with preference for health tech or similar innovative fields.

● Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance requirements.

● Track record of successfully building and scaling talent organizations in companies progressing toward significant funding events or IPO.

● Experience with Trinet or similar PEO services strongly preferred.

● SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or other relevant HR certifications are a plus.
