Cherokee County Assistant Principal
Qualifications:

Master’s degree in related field
- Current South Carolina principal’s certificate prior to the start of the school year
- Minimum of three years of successful experience
- Required to complete ADEPT evaluator training
- Effective communication skills at all levels
Responsibilities:
1) Assist the Principal in the overall operation of the school and assume leadership of the school in the absence of the principal.
2) Assist in the planning, development, organization, coordination, and supervision of instructional programs and activities; interpret and implement the District approved curriculum in the context of school needs.
3) Carry out established policies and delegate and accept responsibility to complete tasks and reach program goals and objectives.
4) Assist the Principal in supervising and evaluating the effectiveness of all school-based personnel.
5) Conduct observations, provide actionable feedback, and confer with teachers to improve management and instructional practices to meet the needs of every student.
6) Assist in arranging services for students identified as having special needs. Support the development, implementation and monitoring of each student’s IEP as applicable; ensure on-going compliance with state and federal special education regulations and due process procedures, and serve as the LEA when necessary.
7) Support the principal to initiate needed improvements in individual and team performance based on data.
8) Guide teachers and other staff members in their professional growth and meet with staff to assist in implementing objectives.
9) Assist the principal in monitoring and evaluating all school programs; employ strategic processes to collaboratively analyze data, define problems, and take action.
10) Adapt and perform effectively under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
11) Assist in the supervision of students, discipline, attendance, and health and safety requirements.
12) Assist in establishing and maintaining a positive school culture to support the maximum effectiveness of staff and optimum conditions for student learning.
13) Promote and maintain open communication, support student well-being, respect the dignity and worth of staff and students, and comply with established lines of authority.
14) Assist in defining, communicating, and implementing school discipline policy and procedures.
15) Assist in maintaining high standards of student conduct, and enforce discipline affording due process rights to students.
16) Confer and counsel with students and parents regarding achievement, growth, discipline, extra-curricular activities, intervention supports, and other matters related to the success of students.
17) Develop and maintain effective relationships with law enforcement, security, and emergency services personnel. 18) Assist with supervision of extracurricular activities.
19) Assist in determining budgetary needs, support the selection of materials and equipment, and manage inventory.
20) Interact in an effective and timely manner with parents and external partners to address their needs and concerns and generate school support.
21) Represent the school at community events when requested by the principal and serve as a liaison for support programs.
22) Effectively communicate with others, eliciting and responding to needs, concerns and perceptions to build mutual understanding.
23) Act to further develop personal professional knowledge, skills, and leadership.
24) Demonstrate fairness, integrity, and ethical behavior.
25) Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
