MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BS Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration (Accounting preferred) and experience in related field.CPA or Master’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration preferred.
GOAL
In conjunction with the Executive Director, plan, coordinate and manage the School District’s Accounting and Internal Auditing processes to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the Division of Financial Management.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise the preparation, approval, issuance and distribution of the School District’s Accounts Payable operation for all funds and accounts.
- Ensure all School District financial and cash bank accounts are accurately reconciled to accounting records and all approved adjustments are recorded and ready for review by independent financial auditors on a monthly basis.
- Assist in the preparation and issuance of financial reports to individual schools and departments comparing State, Federal and Local Grants and Allotments to the Superintendent of School’s Approved Budget on a timely and accurate basis.
- Prepare all required and requested Federal, State and Local annual reports and cash reimbursements to proper receiving agencies as assigned, on an accurate and timely basis.
- Post approved monthly adjusting entries properly documented and as needed for the School District’s accounting records to ensure accurate monthly financial presentation to the Superintendent and the Board of Education.
- Perform monthly and annual General Ledger review and closing procedures.
- Provide assistance in preparing and implementing the School District’s Annual Budget and Financial Reports as needed.
- Serve as the School District's System Administrator for the Georgia Department of Technology Portal and Accouting and Financial computer system in conjunction with the School District's Technology Department.
- Administer the School District’s Records Retention procedures.
- Implement and maintain electronic records retention procedures in the Accounts Payable operations.
- Provide assistance to the Director in all areas of accounting matters relating to the operation of the School District.
- Assist in providing information in conjunction with annual financial and management audits.
- Recommend business practices and procedures related to accounting operations which are based on widely accepted methods.
- Perform all job assignments on a timely, accurate and professional basis.
- Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.
- Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
- Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to assignments.
- Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.
- Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
- Follow all federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
