What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Specialist I position at Cherokee Federal?
SUMMARY
Prepare and submit contract billings that are accurate, timely, and compliant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
- Develops billings in order to meet submission due dates to customer.
- Ensures billing is compliant to the contract and all supporting documentation is provided for payment approval.
- Monitors time charging and expenses into CostPoint projects to understand billing costs.
- Coordinates with contracts department and program managers for contract specific information related to customer billings.
- Monitors status of payment through acceptance of the invoice by the customer.
- Inputs invoice into WAWF or other electronic system as required.
- Responsible for open accounts receivable reporting and collection; collaborates with analyst on unbilled balances.
- Ensures compliance with Cherokee Nation Businesses (CNB) policies and procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
No supervisory/management authority.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field of study and 2 years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Accounting background preferred.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of Deltek systems.
- Knowledge of FAR.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, organization, and attention to details skills.

- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in team environment to accomplish the goals of the team and organization.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office setting.
