Technical Writer

 

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active DoE Q clearance or the ability to obtain a  DoE Q clearance to be considered. 

 

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to create, maintain, and review critical documentation for IT and government projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical writing skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, professional documents under tight deadlines.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Technical Writer: $90,000 to $110,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided.  Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

 

Technical Writer Responsibilities Include: 

  • Develop and maintain templates, forms, and standardized documentation formats.
  • Compile inputs from multiple contributors into cohesive, final documents.
  • Review and edit documentation for grammar, spelling, format, and consistency.
  • Attend project meetings to gather and track documentation requirements.
  • Maintain policies and procedures for supported teams and projects.
  • Provide short-notice writing and editing support as needed.
  • Conduct peer reviews and quality assurance (QA) checks for documentation.
  • Interview Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to collect and clarify technical information.
  • Create user guides, reference materials, compliance documentation, and process improvements.
  • Proactively identify and address process gaps to improve efficiency.
  • Stay updated on tools, technologies, and industry standards through professional development.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

 

Technical Writer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: 

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or IT (or four (4) years of related work experience in lieu of degree).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of technical writing experience, including one (1) year in government IT.
  • Intermediate-to-advanced skills in Microsoft Office and Acrobat Pro.
  • Familiarity with general IT concepts and terminology.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and credit check.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
