Job Summary:
Plans menus, maintains inventory, supervises job assignments, and assigned personnel. Prepares purchase orders.
Job Duties:
Plans menus to provide nutritious meals for students following applicable requirements. Maintains inventory records of food and supplies. Prepares purchase requisitions as required to maintain ample food supply. Supervises food preparation to ensure health and safety regulations are enforced. Prepares schedules and approves leave for assigned personnel and students to ensure adequate staff is available. Verifies orders when received to purchase requisitions. Assists in special activities by planning meals and supervising the preparation of meals. Maintains a record of student identification cards and issues new cards as required. Supervises laundry and orders supplies as needed. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises seven (7) to ten (10) employees working in the Talking Leaves Job Corps. Carriers out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Associate's degree from a 2-year college or technical school; or two (2) years (60 credit hours) coursework from a 4-year college or university; or three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
An additional two (2) years of experience in the administration of a food service program and supervision of subordinate personnel is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a Food Handler's Card.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have knowledge of cooking and nutrition.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
PHYSICAL
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
