Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Plant Accountant to join our team in Cherokee, AL. The primary function of this role will be the preparation of accurate, timely financial statements and reports in accordance with our established schedule and with input from the rest of the accounting department. In addition to standard accounting reports, the candidate will help prepare, develop, and maintain programmatic tools used by internal staff. The candidate should be comfortable developing and explaining new reports to non-accounting staff as well as looking for efficient use of information systems to produce reports.
Primary Responsibilities Include
Prepare month end closing entries and fixed cost variance analysis
Reconcile prepaid, accrual and other balance sheet accounts and research discrepancies
Assist with preparation of monthly financial packages and KPIs
Support A/P role with monthly review of RNV or other duties and serves as backup for critical duties
Analyze and audit daily inventory and operational reports from plant personnel. Identify discrepancies, investigate abnormalities, and provide guidance to supervisors/plant personnel
Calculate and compile daily production reports, ensuring timely submission, accuracy, and validity of those schedules
Balance inventory and shipments against the daily roll-forward schedule
Create and complete production and manufacturing work orders in JD Edwards
Make inventory adjustments, as needed, to balance with the physical inventory
Support logistics and commercial teams to resolve issues with shipments, credits, or returns
Track and balance natural gas for roll-forward and imbalances against nominations
Day-to-Day Run Plan entry
Assist with quarterly SOX book preparation
Complete Governments surveys as required by law
Assist with internal or external audits, as needed
Assist with budget templates and data entry to support the annual budget process
Support Cost control analysis efforts
Support process improvement across all functional areas including Production, Inventory, AP, and AR

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Bachelors degree in accounting or finance; Masters degree a plus
5 years of experience with process production, preferred
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills
Experience with JD Edwards, preferred
Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office products
Highly organized, with focus on process and time management discipline
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
