What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activity Coordinator position at Cherry Oak Senior Living?
Our Assisted Living Facility is looking for an Activity Coordinator from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
To plan, develop coordinate and administer a social and recreational program which meets the psycho-social needs of theresidents with a minimum of supervision.
1. To help residents continue in interests, hobbies and activities that they have previously pursued.
2. To offer new opportunities to enhance their lives with new learning experience. These via the learning of new crafts,dramatic club, choral groups, discussion groups - new avenues for self-expression.
3. To plan and coordinate outings to every conceivable area, i.e., art galleries, theater, music, racetracks, religiousand cultural programs.
4. To provide constant activity within the facility which will allow for the expansion of friendships.
5. To assist residents in the formation of various clubs and organizations and interest groups thus generating opportunitiesfor leadership and involvement in the workings of the community.
6. To plan a monthly calendar of events for Residents including on-going diversified activities which meet the religious,social, emotional, educational, and recreational needs of the Residents.
7. To plan, develop, prepare, and then distribute copies to each Resident and appropriate staff.
8. To write and edit a monthly newsletter and provide copies to each Resident and appropriate staff.
9. To coordinate transportation by bus for all special trips planned by the Activities Department.
10. To provide new Resident with orientation to building, available amenities, activities, etc.
11. To establish a welcome committee to assure new Residents' move in will be as smooth as possible.
12. To request, in accordance with the activities budget, supplies necessary for the program.
13. To become knowledgeable of Resident's background, hobbies, special interests, language spoken, etc.
14. To coordinate exercise and swim programs for active and/or handicapped Residents according to individualResident needs.
15. To selectively recruit volunteers to assist in social programs.
16. To recruit social and educational groups in the community to participate in The Facility’s activities.
17. To arrange for photographs to be taken at major events and maintain an album of these pictures.
18. To become knowledgeable on how to operate all equipment necessary to operate the Activities Department.
Experience working with older adults. Experience in developing a social activities program geared to the strengths andfrailties of senior citizens. Good organizational skills. Outgoing, warm and caring personality. Skills in activities such as crafts, music, dance, etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 per hour
