This position organizes schedules, conducts, and monitors a variety of indoor and outdoor games and activities for children of all ages. Activity Leaders also assist with specialized programs, including seasonal sports, special events, room set-ups for Recreation Center events, and facility upkeep. The Activity Leader works under the supervision of the Recreation Specialist/ Program Manager.
The starting pay rate is $16.00 per hour.
- Works with children of all ages, exhibiting patience and understanding.
- Under the direction of the Recreation Specialist/ Program Manager, organizes monthly activity schedule, and leads and monitors indoor/outdoor games and activities.
- Conducts, and under the direction of the Recreation Specialist/ Program Manager, organizes monthly activity schedule for specialized programs, such as seasonal sports.
- Coaches athletic programs and/or officiates athletic contests including but not limited to flag football, soccer, basketball, and lacrosse.
- Assists with set-up, implementing games and activities, and cleanup for special events.
- Assists with recreation programs and facility supervision to ensure proper coverage of activities and participant safety.
- Assists with daily maintenance of indoor and outdoor facilities for safety and cleanliness.
- Sets up tables, chairs, and related equipment for programs and classes.
- Supervises participants and leads recreational activities in summer camp, holiday camps, and the after school programs.
- Assists with basic office duties such as answering phones, providing program and activity information, and registering participants for programs and activities.
- Responsible for supervising and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of campers during field trips and off-site activities
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Some experience in working with children in a leadership supervisory capacity preferred.
Monday to Friday 9:30 am to 4:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Working Dates for Camp Duration: June 9th - August 1st
*Monday - Friday 8:45 am to 3:45 pm
*While the work hours schedule maybe subject to change, the regular hours are from 8:45 am to 3:45 pm.
Additional hours are available 8:00 am - 5:45 pm.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, departmental officials, and the general public, both in-person and over the phone.
- Customer Service experience and the ability to enforce departmental policies and procedures and handle complaints in a courteous and professional manner
- Ability to organize, conduct, and supervise a variety of indoor and outdoor games and activities.
- Ability to organize and coach seasonal sport activities such as flag football, soccer, lacrosse, and basketball.
Salary : $14 - $22
