Job Description
Job Description
Description : Position Summary
Outward Bound facilitators are skilled educators and are the cornerstone of our outdoor, experiential programming. They are responsible for the successful delivery of CBOBS programs, working directly with a diverse range of program participants. Senior Instructors also mentor and train newer Instructors through on-the-job learning. Instructors at CBOBS are expected to learn Outward Bound’s curriculum and design programs to meet the needs of our students and intended outcomes. Understanding of and commitment to the Outward Bound philosophy and curriculum are keys to success for this position.
The ideal Instructor is an adaptable, creative, and compassionate educator. An organized person who can embody our organizational mission and wants to help us take our single day teambuilding and leadership programs to the next level, should apply.
Our single day programs occur predominantly at CBOBS’ facilities located in the 1,216-acre Gwynns Falls Leakin Park in Baltimore, MD, with some programs occurring off-site in Washington, DC. Day Programs include youth and adult teambuilding and Challenge Course experiences.
About Our Program
Our one-day Team and Skill -Building program team consists of 8-10 core facilitators and many part-time staff, who spend their days engaged with client groups in activities that foster collaborative problem-solving, constructive communication, a supportive environment, adventure, and discovery.
The current high-ropes challenge course includes five team-belayed elements, 7 low elements, and a static Aerial Teams Course with two zip lines.
A classic one day program day utilizes both low and high elements and progresses students along an arch of learning which starts with foundations of trust and skill building, then challenges that skill and trust during high adrenaline scenarios, and finally metaphorically transfers lessons back to a participant’s real life.
