What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Support Technician position at Chesapeake College?
The Environmental Support Technician is responsible for maintaining the College's environmental systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. This position works under the direction of the Maintenance & Energy Supervisor and assists Trade Technicians in maintaining all facets of the College's facilities systems and equipment.
This position requires strong technical knowledge and skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills, with at least three years of experience in any combination of the following trades: Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry. A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required, as well as the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains all aspects of the College's environmental systems and equipment
- Assists Trade Technicians in maintaining all facets of the College's facilities systems and equipment
- Performs routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Aquires and maintains all necessary certificates to operate equipment
- Works independently or under the supervision of a licensed tradesperson to complete assigned tasks
The Environmental Support Technician is an essential position, requiring the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and college emergencies. Safety equipment will be provided where needed and required to be worn or used.
