Salary range is $821 - $899 per credit hour, based upon experience.
The Welding & Fabrication Instructor: Part Time, will instruct students in the craft of welding with the SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW processes, cutting with oxy fuel and plasma, theory, and weld quality. The instructor will prepare students for employment in construction, manufacturing, and heavy industry. The Welding Instructor reports to the Department Director.
In support of Chesapeake College and in the Skilled Trades & Transportation Workforce Trades and Certification programs, the incumbent will support the program’s DEI goals and initiatives including building and sustaining an inclusive working and learning environment for all students, staff, and faculty.

- Teach beginning, intermediate and advanced Welding courses.
- Instructors may be required to teach evening, weekend, summer, online, hybrid, and dual credit classes as needed.
- Facilitate classroom instruction.
- Provide a learning environment that supports student success
- Teach assigned class in accordance with established student learning outcomes (SLOs).
- Develop syllabus or follow departmental syllabus, as required
- Select and compile assessments, assignments, and/or discussion activities as a measurement of performance relative to SLOs
- Evaluate student performance. Report assessment data as required.
- Maintain and submit accurate and timely reports for student grades/progress. (mid-term and final) Maintain attendance records and report attendance when needed.
- Use CANVAS to maintain grades and attendance. Additional duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
