What are the responsibilities and job description for the Imaging Registrar position at Cheshire Medical Center?
Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Radiology and direct supervision of the Diagnostic/Financial Services Supervisor, performs and coordinates the schedule of patients to all modalities in the Radiology Department. Schedules all types of Radiology Exams (X-ray, CT, Ultrasound, Vascular, Mammography, MRI). Enters orders from outside providers and ensures those orders are complete and appropriate. Will be required to learn about medical necessity and appropriate ordering of Radiology exams. Reception duties for the Radiology Desk: receives patients for Radiology, pre-op, short stay, special services, visitors, salespeople and direct them accordingly. Assists technologists with scheduling concerns. Assist with training schedulers/volunteers as necessary. Skills and/or knowledge needed are: medical terminology, strong interpersonal and communication skills, concepts of electronic information handling and proficient in the use of PCs, and ability to handle confidential material with maturity, sensitivity and discretion. High school diploma or equivalent, graduate of an accredited medical secretary program preferred, minimum of one year in a medical office setting. **Ideally works regular shift weekly but needs flexibility to cover as needed for others time off/vacations.
