What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Assistant - Ophthalmology, Per Diem position at Cheshire Medical Center?
Responsible for assisting the ophthalmologist/optometrist with ocular examinations, testing and procedures. Acts as a supportive staff member for the department. Initiate documentation of patient's chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately and in accordance with departmental guidelines. Perform medication and allergy reconciliation. Performs testing to include visual acuity measurement, color vision, lensometry, keratometry, pupil function, tonometry, confrontation visual fields, evaluations of EOM's and all other patient services as requested by the provider. Testing Includes but not limited to Auto refractor, auto lensometer, OCT, digital camera photo's, visual fields and Orbscan. Administer dilating, and other ophthalmic drops to patients when applicable. High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of ophthalmic experience preferred. JCAHPO COA Certification preferred and required within 2 years from date of hire.
